So today the North East is getting dumped on, a relentless bomb barage of heavy white flakes is blanketing the ground. Now I don’t want to stray from the true matter at hand which is the holiday. I am of course talking about New Years Eve, one of the largest party nights of the year. The delema is of course… “where da party at?…”. Every bar/club on my block is throwing thier own open bar, food included, champagne at midnight extraviganza. Cover charges are ranging anywhere from $40 - $200 a head. On the other hand, with the current state of the economy it seems as though many of my friends (including my room mate) are trying to host thier own extravaganzas. So what do we do? Go out? Stay in? I mean if this snow keeps up I have no intentions of driving anywhere but living in Hartford has cursed me with an vast array of bars and venues within walking distance.
Whichever way your pleasure tends, I hope you stay safe and check out the Events page for a list of shows going on tonight!

Where else can you have one week of powdery snow followed by one week of pouring rain?
So I’m driving down I-84 in this shit weatherand I’m hating life. When all of a sudden as if an act of god (or Santa Claus), Terrapin Station cascades across the airwaves and my spirit is lifted. Just like that I went from hating life to loving it. I pumped up the volume, cranked up the wipers, and slid over to the slow lane.
It’s amazing how the power of music can alter a persons state of mind. But on the real, I got sucked into watching this movie called Alpha Dog tonight. I have to say it wasn’t half bad. I’m not gonna lie, when I saw that it was starring Justin Timberlake
naturally I was a bit skeptical, but thankfully he did not play the lead roll. I don’t know if I would ever voluntarily watch this film again however I think that I would recommend it to a friend. This goes to show you… you can’t judge a book by it’s cover man!
There you have it, two important life lessons in one night…
I updated the venue section.

is not only a part of the forebrain, located in the medial temporal lobe. It’s also a 3 piece outfit that cranks out high energy trance jams, and they are from the Hartford/Vernon area! Granted I’ve yet to see these guys in the flesh, I heard through the grapevine that their last show at The Warehouse was the stuff of legends.
If you want to check them out, they have a number of tour dates coming up. Most recently is on December 6th at The Hungry Tiger in Manchester. Further dates can be found in the Schedule section!
If you want to give them a listen, check them out of myspace at http://www.myspace.com/thehippocampus
